The Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran emphasized the need for careful transfer of state-owned companies to the private sector and a simultaneous look at the improvement of the business environment, saying: Fortunately, the results of studies conducted in cooperation with academic centers show that the transfers conducted by the eleventh government to the real private sector have largely led to the growth of indicators such as employment, productivity and profitability of firms.
(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- If the transfers are right and the management of firms is also passed on to buyers, surely positive results will be obtained, Ali Tayebnia said.
The law on the implementation of Article 44 of the Constitution is very comprehensive and considers all aspects related to the promotion of the private sector, but unfortunately in practice only part of it has been implemented, the Minister of Economy stated.
Unfortunately, we did not pay attention to the fact that if the business environment was not appropriate, the mere transfer of state-owned companies would not solve the problem, he added.
Stating that based on the opinion of our managers, the only effective way of managing firms is the government's approach, the Minister said that this opinion is somehow correct, because many cases of transferring firms were not successful either because of their transfer to the unrealistic private sector or because of the inappropriate business environment.
Research also shows that in the Iranian economy, the effectiveness of state-owned enterprises and private sector enterprises has not significantly changed in the past, which means the business environment is not suitable for private sector activists, he noted.
These are some of the things that must be considered in the next government, the Minister of Economy stressed.
